NEW resources and support for oral hygiene

A healthy mouth is critical to a healthy body.

But it can be challenging to get accessible dental tools for your at-home routine or find a dentist who understands how to care for a patient with FOP.

While occasionally skipping brushing or flossing might not seem like a big deal, the build-up of harmful bacteria on teeth can lead to more serious health conditions. For individuals living with FOP, oral hygiene can have a big impact on FOP progression and overall health.

At the IFOPA, we want to support you in all aspects of health—including oral hygiene! That’s why we are excited to announce we are expanding our library of dental resources in honor of World Oral Health Day on March 20

On March 20, visit our newly updated page to find:

  1. A list of emergency dentistry contacts around the world who understand the unique needs of patients with FOP

  2. Educational videos on the connection between oral health and the rest of the body

  3. Information about adaptive tools to improve independence and good oral health

  4. Resources for parents and caregivers to better support their loved ones with FOP

If you have questions or need support, please reach out to Hope Newport, Family Servies manager, at [email protected] or +1 (785) 294-1607 (also available on WhatsApp). I’d love to help you find the resources and tools you need to practice good oral hygiene.

Everyone deserves a healthy smile, and our team is here to make sure you have the support you need to take care of yours!
