In the new book Finding Magic Mountain: Life with Five Glorious Kids and a Rogue Gene Called FOP, author Carol Zapata-Whelan weaves through her family's past as she chronicles her son's senior year in high school, during which he readies for his future as a pre-med student at an elite university. Through the trials and triumphs of life on a collision course with a disabling disorder, Zapata-Whelan, a recovering worrier, learns to lean on faith and share her son's courage, lending hope to anyone facing a chronic challenge, a difficult trek or just a tough day. Richard Musgrave (1949-2002) brought great joy to his friends, family and members of the FOP community with his wonderful poetry and his uplifting way of looking at life. He was raised and educated in England, living there until his death in August 2002. Richard's book, Poetic Salad, has brought joy to people in many areas of the world and is available from the Betty Anne Laue/IFOPA Resource Center at a cost of $2.50 each. Please email the IFOPA office at together@ifopa.org.
Brian Irwin's, Out of the Hat Children's Book of Magic, is a wonderful book for children in which Magician Brian Irwin teaches the reader how to do the "best" magic tricks as selected by children with FOP. Mr. Irwin and Boyce Press, the book's publisher, originally donated half of the proceeds from each $20 book to the IFOPA, they are on sale for only $10 each and everything (but shipping) goes to the IFOPA! To buy books for yourself and your family, and for creative ways to sell the book to others (schools, fundraisers, churches, book fairs, etc), please contact the IFOPA office at together@ifopa.org.
